Today’s figure is a fraction less than yesterday’s – we have 37011.

But the seven day cumulative figure is up to 249169, a whisker from the quarter of a million barrier.

And because when you have covid you are supposed to self-isolate for ten days, that means there are two and a half million recorded cases at any one time amongst us.

And the government confirms that covid passports will be required at nightclubs and other indoor venues come the end of September. It will be interesting to see exactly what is in the list.
