It’s always nice to see Dr Nabarro interviewed on television and he has almost become a household name during the pandemic.
For those who perhaps watch other channels, he is a representative of the World Health Organisation and is based in Geneva where you can see the famous jet d’eau featured in today’s photo. He has given frequent interviews in relation to covid over the past 18 months.
Today it has become known that there is a report which has criticised both government and their advisors in relation to what they describe as serious failings in the handling of the crisis and in particular the damage caused by delays in implementing measures, not least the first lockdown itself.
Dr Nabarro was very diplomatic and particularly keen not to apportion blame but it was clear that he was in agreement that there had been delays and that this was still a continuing problem in that the pandemic is far from over and that measures should still be taken to help protect people from the disease.
With new cases running as of today at 270585 per week and still rising, the fact that the crisis is not over is completely self-evident. What is less clear is whether people are still concerned about safety because the lapse in basic protective measures gets worse by the day.
