Don’t hold your breath but new cases are down again. It does look like this is a sustained drop.
However, the rate of fall has certainly levelled off which is less encouraging but is there somewhere behind all of this a new factor which has effected the figures, like schools being off? Unfortunately deaths and hospitalisations continue to rise with today’s deaths the highest for months and at the end of the day, it will be hospitalisations and deaths which determine the direction of flow.
However we do await the outcome of events following the lifting of restrictions on 19th July. It is just over a week and any new cases since then will only just now start to show themselves so watching over the next two weeks will be important. Will the trend start to increase again.
So at the moment there is only one thing you can do – sit back, watch and wait and everyone will be having to make up his or her own mind.
But look – whatever the result countrywide, it is still down to each individual to secure his own safety as best he can – carry on with social distancing, wear a mask perhaps and avoid crowds. In fact carry on doing the things you have been doing for the past year and, with luck, you will avoid infection.
And still go for your holiday; just be careful of the crowds!
